3870: To the End

An interesting point brought up by DRUNK HULK:HUMANITY AMAZING! 48 HOUR AFTER END OF WORLD! EVERYTHING REBUILT! AND LIFE BACK TO NORMAL! GIVE YOU SELF PAT ON BACK!
Clearly the end of the world came, but we--industrious, resourceful people we are--managed to fix it all.

I recall a similar sort of story about the end of the world's date coming and going, in the back of an issue of Critters or other. The doomsdayist posited that something similar occurred, that the world ended but was rebuilt in a sort of Matrix construct, with incongruities that threatened to reveal the façade of reality "deleted" otherwise inexplicably.

I almost wouldn't mind the relief of the idea that everything is out of my hands and it doesn't matter what I do. As it is, I'm too hung up on the idea that people depend on me, and letting them down is needless stress on their behalf. Yes, I could easily just go ahead and let them down, but if there's no cosmic soap opera I'm performing in, why hurt people for no reason?

...ugh, so tired. Being a grown-up sucks. I wish it was actually even half the fun we though it would be when we were kids =(

Wish I had anything else to add--ANYTHING--but meh.
