So, Science v. Religion! I think y'all know where I stand, but maybe I should sum it up for the record even if I don't bother to point out what recent event prompts this because that bloats the post into an encyclopedia:Christianity: God is all-powerful and rewards us with good things when we die!
Einstein: The most powerful force in the universe is compound interest.
Christianity: God can crush your puny compound interest! Your beliefs are stupid.
Einstein: Hey, I'm just calling it like I see it. What happened to that "Do unto others" bit?
--which is why I don't really dig the Christian version of Christianity [that is, the "God save me from Your followers" Christianity], because it comes across as so much "My dad can beat up your dad"-ism. Whatever the Truth, I think the biggest turn-off is the company I would have to keep =p I had something longer than that, but why use a thousand words when three hundred will do. 9_9
There's an analogy in there somewhere about those who [think they] have more are more prone to excess than those who have not, so when--PREFACE: I'm not saying this is a blanket application by far, but in this particular instance--so-called Christians persecute and even murder an atheist for what reason and then say, "See, he didn't believe in God, so he's going to Hell! Serves him right!" What happened to life being precious? What about the parable of the talents as a metaphor for our deeds in life? Why do [some] Christians feel that it's okay to dismiss the very irreplaceable lives of others just because they believe that they have some to spare?
Feel free to substitute in other appropriate groups, also, for either end of the argument. The problem with playing thought police, unfortunately, is it's like that offensive joke about, "Fighting on the Internet is like joining the Special Olympics: Even if you win, you're still retarded."
My folks sent me birfday moneys, but I have to wait to see if my brother sends me some obscene gift before I blow it all 9_9 which I might if I pass by those mini laptops again =p At least we have a washer again, THANK GODeh, what'd He ever do for me ¬_¬
