3005: This Machine
I spent most of the day at work reading advice column backlogs, as unproductive as that is [but Supers doesn't seem to care--as much or as little as anyone actually does]. Prolly highlights later, since this post threatens to be kind of long as it is.
So, considering that I had mentioned Red Robin as a possibility for dinner tonight, I was astonished to find this at Target during my lunch break:
Expires 31 March this year, and it's printed ON THE BOX ITSELF rather than as a peel-off sticker? Wow, there's some foresight. There may be something odd going on with Red Robin itself, tho... consider their crane machine stock:
"Hey! Those look like iPod Shuffles! And they stocked a crane machine with them?!" you might say. Well...
I made a point to take a good close-up. These are SO FAKE. They're thicker than actual Shuffles, have ugly text on the sides [Apple stuff is minimalist/short on text], the main controls are rotated 90° from how they're supposed to be oriented... and there's the whole "MP3" and "Multimedia Device" on the box sides, not to mention.
This kid there got excited over them anyway. I think it'd be more worth it to just buy a Shuffle outright. They're only, what, $5 now? 9_9 [/sarcasm]
--also on my lunch break, since B&N is right there relative to Target, I made the mistake of looking at the latest issue of Sonic the Hedgehog [#195] =p Okay, WHEN THE HELL did fan fiction become canon?? I'm talking about this shit, where NICOLE--Sally's little handheld computer, right?--now has a holographic body and emotions following a lab experiment while switching bodies with Sally.
Seriously, this was a fan story I read back in like 1994! I guess Tim Rogers was right: This means that, yes, your hobby has made it! It’s a viable, world-class form of entertainment, now! =p Mind, the fan NICOLE was a bobcat, while this one's a lynx, but I still call foul for as far as I can call it--for all that Archie claimed never to use fan ideas, it sure looks like a lot are seeping in, one way or another.
