2662: There's No Other Way

Now my dreams are taking me to task that I don't have a ["real"] job yet >_< and it's maddening, because it feels like I should have one already, like I should have been more persistent about whatever that Bankers Life and Casualty one was, despite the tragic-sounding name and inherent failure to come across as a productive graphics position I wouldn't feel like a chump trying to pass off as what I've made of myself, even if it's not my fault that I've applied to at least ten or twelve places by now, and that even includes temp shit, and haven't really heard back from anyone promising. Of course, I have mixed feelings about taking on temp work* when something slightly more lucrative MIGHT come along if I just give it the however-odd business days it takes for them to go through all the apps...
*I forgot to return a call today for a temp place where I applied, because it's TEMP temping, not "TTH Graphic Design position" temping... but I may have to take that, won't I?

[I suppose my bar is either that I'm making a decent wage on a tolerable amount of work, or that Antoinette got "Most Unusual Occupation" for her Zoo Education Expert job at my reunion, to my "Best Dressed" for having once bought a cheongsam. I mean, shit, if I got to sometimes play with fennecs, too, I'd think that pretty damn spiffy. Not that my goal is to have the weirdest-ass job I can find for just that reason, but if the work is cool enough, that should outweigh that I might have made a little more if I'd just put up with Target.]

I know I also feel a little bad because, though I realize I ultimately enjoy it, cleaning up and laying all these crappy old doodles of mine is taking so long because I'm individually cleaning up every single mushroom [for instance] I did for the yearbook, rather than just scanning it all in at once and running a Levels filter--and I'm doing that extra work because I want to fit all the relevant portions onto one or two pages, rather than having it spread across three pages, and to make it look nicer and all that crap. There's also stuff like how The Collective is spread across umpteen pages, and I'd like to group them all together, so I need as much layout flexibility as possible, and that merits cropping and cleaning up every little doodle on its own.

Of course, a lot of the fun is it's all already done and just in need of compiling. I'm still daunted by the idea of a site overhaul or doing even just the most basic possible "Here's the simplest thing I could do that would be all new work but require minimal thought" artbook, because it's, what?, 100 pages of all new material? Even once that's done, I can't guarantee I'll have enough buyers to support myself. I'd have to do pin-up crap like Hit the Beach to even begin to sell anything on speculation like that.

...I've thought of it, but I also don't want to even remotely typecast myself as a pr0n artist, 'cause there's almost no return from THAT.

Riddle-ish: I want to think of another music-based riddle, but the last couple didn't get any nibbles [mind, one wasn't obvious], and it's hard finding riddle material in songs, especially when songs get covered by so many people--using some kind of hard-coded information is a must for successful riddling. I also discovered a "riddle" website, but it's more like an extended scavenger hunt than riddles, and I'm getting just a bit annoyed with the solving process--even Neojank handles its "riddles" better.

There's also this other puzzle set that I can't remember what it's called, but it goes like this [GAMES readers may recognize it and be able to identify it for me]:This game is for two players. At the beginning of each round, each player has [arbitrary length of time] to choose two+* letters that can be found in a word. Then the players exchange their selections, so Player 1 has to think of a word that contains Player 2's letters, and vice versa. The word must contain those letters in the exact order presented: HAPLESS is acceptable for "PL" whereas HELP is not.
*I believe it's two or three--more than that is unwieldy.

If the player can think of an acceptable word, s/he gets a point. If the player cannot think of such a word, s/he has the opportunity to make a challenge that the other player also cannot think of an acceptable word. A correct challenge is awarded two points. An incorrect challenge is awarded two points for the other player.**
**Scoring may differ--I don't remember that well and have not played to know how to balance it out.

With these rules in mind, try to discover words containing these letters. Multiple answers may be possible.
  1. THT
  2. HL
  3. AMT
  4. HYT
  5. VT
  6. NGT
  7. HP

GAMES was the death of me even back when I only had one issue from like 1985 =p Much fist-shaking occured.
