In-laws [sort of] from across the pond are here. Sounds like customs for them was just as crap as it was for us going to Japan =p Every time I miss England, I'm reminded that the Pound is [currently] 2.1 to the dollar, so buying anything from there is a punch in the face X/ Naturally, they're buying everything up while they're here ( Read more... )

All I hafta say is read the His Dark Materials trilogy before or instead of ever seeing the Golden Compass movie. I adore the books, have for a long time, and refuse to see the movie until maybe possibly when it comes out on DVD.
From what I hear, they butchered it.
From what I've seen of reviews, it isn't true to the books at all :[
And from a protected perspective from being disappointed, I'd go sofar as to say the movie does as much for the books as the Eragon movie did for THAT series :P

Uhh except His Dark Materials is sexy as fuck. And original. AND URGLE.

Eragon not so much e.e;

Kay bye <3

But... my thesis! T_T

[I have this general theory that
1. Reading book before movie = movie cannot measure up/leaves things out, excepting where book totally blows and movie takes great pains to fix problems in book, and
2. Watching movie before book = book is bloated and drawn-out, excepting where movie totally blows and book explains a lot of things that movie couldn't possibly cram in.
Of course, I haven't had much experience in the latter, though what I've seen then read has pretty much held.]

Uhhhh I meant like save it from hurting; trying to see the (relatively awful) movie and THEN maybe read the book and compile the two bits together to form one united vision and hurrr it was late adhdhsjss ;3;

I'll sendjyoo the trilogy in .pdf form if I must woman :c

And hahahahahaayeah Tolkien.. people can rave about the books being better than movies a trillionfold and I won't argue but um guess which is easier for an A.D.D. person to get through and enjoy yeah yeah yeah
*fail* :[
