One of the uncharacteristic traits of my "bad-ass" characters is that none of them have facial scars. Instead, the ones with facial scars are the wimpier/withdrawn ones that just happened to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hmm.
In the design process, I've noticed that facial scars are problematic, because at this point there's such a limited way to place scars without seeming to draw from someone else:Forehead only: Harry Potter
Slanted across the forehead: Usagi Yojimbo
Slanted across the forehead and bridge of nose: Emo GunswordSquall Leonhart [FF8]
Straight across the bridge of nose: Prince Ferio [MKR]
"X" across forehead/eyes: "Scar/The Scarred Man" [FMA]/Hartigan [Sin City]
Slanted across an eye/randomly across the jawline: EVERY OTHER SCARRED CHARACTER EVAR
I've done the eye thing with
houndkolbsedek [and his modern version], just because it seemed to fit the character upon extensive introspection, and I have actually written the acquisition of said scar into the main continuum. For the other one [so far], I think I've found a way that's relatively distinct, but it's problematic explaining it without spoiling anything.
...I should just write my damn books instead of bothering to post here XB
Unfortunately!--semi-relatedly--I seem to have a bit of some show stuck in my head as a result of they put a DVD on in the break room and watch one part of it TWICE during the day.* It's one of those obnoxious Buffy-esque prime time sci-fi dramas, about a bunch of kids in University that apparently have supernatural flashy-eye powers [Supernatural, prolly, but I have no idea for certain, because I can't find reference images of the characters I saw/don't recognize them anymore]. It's obnoxious because the one scene in particular works really well for my book and I'm seriously tempted to steal it >_< BUT I KNOW BETTER THAN THAT!¡¡!
Shit. What to do.
Also, that the locker room scene with totally butt-nekkid college boys whipping each other with towels... ... .........
...what was I saying? o.o Um...
*As it happens, they watch part for Flow's break, then rewind it to wherever they missed, but in either event they let it play, and it just ends up that whatever segment shows when it's first Backroom break is what ends up getting repeated for second Backroom break. Kinda pisses me off, which is why I tend to put the headphones full on then.
Note also that I was always curious how South Park was always on during one or the other of our breaks. Then I realized Smokey was the one bringing in DVDs of it, plus every other awful show we carry. I seriously don't understand that man's taste.
There was actually a paper waiting when I came in, but in an ambiguous spot, so I don't know if maybe the lady across the corridor coincidentally started subscribing as mine ran out, or if the delivery guy just didn't realize I'm not really on his route any longer. I'm leaving it just in case the former is true, in any event.
