2307.5: They Crave

Feb 11, 2007 06:18

So, for our increasingly usual romp at Chez Fawx-Wuff, we hit the Dragon Sea Buffet again [failing to document the push "PULL" doors on the way in or out, unfortunately] and decided that no further moving around would occur tonight due to bloat :p In lieu of pie, though [which I had purchased but totally forgotten until en route], we brought thermopyle, who joined us for an evening of BAHOTH ^^

That said, the Traitor won both times we played! T_T --meaning I have actually yet to win a game :(

Game 1: musewolf triggered "Let Them In"--basically what I had last time, but the shadows were specters who could move like LIGHTNING and attack like lightning T_T and there could be more as more rooms with windows were discovered. [Still not sure how the outdoor areas that were merely fenced in didn't count, but...] Chars got boned AGAIN for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and pretty much got hammered by most of the specters before finally catching it in the Mystic Elevator. After that, fawxie and Thomas fell pretty much right off, but I actually managed to get a decent fight in, stunning all the specters that came my way.

Unfortunately, the Madman attacks for Might! :/ ...so. Caught it, but after a valiant fight.

Mistakes: Catching the "don't seal off a level" error too late. Of course, it didn't help my drawing the goddamn Smoke card in a key room, or the Heroes would really have stood a chance. Also, the Traitor got it much better than in my Haunt, because rooms/items only counted once for an exorcism, vs. everyone else piling onto the Balcony for my game :/

Game 2, FOR THE REVENGE!: Somehow we managed to trigger nearly every entrance to the basement right at the start. This was a possible blunder, but only in hindsight. Chars decided it would be EXCEEDINGLY WISE to put the secret stairs into the Mystic Elevator [it's mystic, after all!], but then Fawx triggered a somewhat early haunt--"Creature of the Lake" or something like that--that effectively cut off any more exploration :( or, had I not found the Underground Lake [upstairs!] we could have continued exploring, but it wouldn't have helped us much.

Oddly enough, Chars was the traitor, but he ended up basically reading secret moves the whole time, rather than doing any monster moves and so on. Since none of the rest of us knew what secret roll we had to make, we ended up wading out into the lake and getting attacked by The Creature and albino fish, until Chars finally declared, "Oh, I won."

Kind of anticlimactic by comparison, but certainly less tense than the first two :p Even so, why can't I win a game?!?! ::ToT::

Maybe I have to play against someone besides Fawx XB or play Blast Hardcheese or B.B.Hood instead of Ferrengi Lara Croft or Father Rock-Hard 9_9

--and I wouldn't mention this as it reeks of trivial DRAMAZ0RZ, but I did mention it before, so the completionist in me has to round out the details 9_9 Anyway, I lost two more sections of Style I had been saving, with absolutely nowhere they should have gone. It was driving me crazy again until I told Chars about it, and he said he had taken some out of the unread pile to use as packing for the PC Engine he sold.

>o<

Why the ones I was saving?? There was a whole stack of used ones in the recycle bin, not to mention circulars and other crap things he KNOWS I wouldn't read!! UGH!!

I still have no idea where the first two went, though, because I don't think he sent anything when they went missing. Even so, what I have to do tonight is sit down and read all of what I haven't read yet. It's too bad I already renewed my subscription, or I could just bookmark Ask Amy, Tell Me About It, Zits, and Candorville, then go back to being ignorant of general world events beyond what y'all post to my Friends list [because I just can't make myself read even the headlines on an online newspaper]. Normally, I think the last bit is going to end up biased and uninformative, which is why I subscribed in the first place, but this is costing me a lot of money for stuff I--and OTHER PEOPLE--throw away. If anything, I should just pick up the Saturday edition from the gas station or wherever, so I can get the Quote-Acrostic [which is pretty much the one thing not online] and have exactly enough jurbur paper for the week.

At the moment, I'm still kind of sick from watching RetroCore's jittercam of Akiba @_@;... so... blargh Xo~~

I need another day off =p Wednesday, hurry fast!

bother, boardgamey, papery, sicky, shortbake
