Yesterday, to pass the time during my very slow, very boring afternoon, I printed off a sheet of paper, cut along the lines, glued the flaps and Voila! I had a Robot Friend Jr. Then, my friend Amy emailed me that she was bored and so I sent her the link to Robot Friend Jr. and she was thrilled. Shortly after, she emailed me that she had sent Robot Friend Jr. to the entire IT department at her marketing company where she works and they were all passing the afternoon by making Robot Friend Jrs. By the time I found this out, I'd made my Robot Friend Jr. a Hawaiian shirt and lei out of origami paper (which I keep on me at all times). Thusly, I photocopied my Robot Friend Jr and faxed the image to her office. I got an email back saying someone at her office was going to transfer the pattern to sheet metal and make one at home. I giggle to wonder what kinds of things they're doing with their RFJrs today. Keep in mind, this is the office that rolls out the beer cart at 3pm on Friday and where coworkers are known to challenge each other to foot races on a slow day.
Doncha just love when the joy spreads like that? And guess what? You can have your own Robot Friend Jr too!
Here is the link to the PDF where you can download and print all the parts and assemblage for Robot Friend Jr.

Once again Doc Pop has inspired this joy and I got the information from his blog
posting (link to his blog is on the left). All the pictures seen here are a total rip off of his site because, although my RFJr. is cute as hell, once again, I forgot to bring any digital imaging device with me to take it's picture and show you how snazzy he looks in his Hawaiian shirt.
So PLEASE, spread the joy and make yourself a Robot Friend, Jr. Tell your friends. And i encourage you to send pictures of your Friends to Doc Pop to post on his
Flicr. Please be sure to give credit where credit is due. The important names are included on the instructions for Robot Friend, Jr. and they are Dave Poyzer, the creator of Robot Friend Jr. and the gent for whom this paper creation was made (Happy Birthday Dave), Drew Tetz, the paper master creator of this little fella, and Seth Peterson and Doctor Popular who consulted with Drew as he made Robot Friend Jr in paper.
Enjoy! Aloha!
EDIT: Here's a scan of the photocopy of my RFJr Red Shirt, white flowers, green/white lei..
