So I turned 25 on the 18th. Yeah, I'm unhappy that I'm getting older, but this little event today made me feel a bit better:

[At the register in the grocery store]
Me: "Mom, use my $10." (I got some stuff to make my mom a cake for her birthday but didn't want to go through self checkout, see.)
Mom: "Here, my daughter's contributing this." *hands cashier the money*
Cashier: "Hey, every little bit helps." *turns to me* "Do you work?"
Me: "No..." (What typically follows here is "Why not?" with me trying to will whoever's saying it to STFU and mind their own business.)
Cashier: "Ah, I thought so. I knew you looked young."

It's funny... I was "Is your Mommy home?" at 18, "I never would've guessed you were over 18!" at 22, and now, at the ripe old age of 25, I can't even pass for sixteen.

Not that I mind. If it keeps going this way, hopefully by the time I'm 70 I'll look like I'm still in my 40s.

wtf, real life
