Neutral Stance 1

Dec 06, 2012 18:53

It's December already? But I'm not ready to post! I have no real pairing to drag in readers, just wishful moments and hints! I did my best but it wasn't good enough!

Wow, that was a lot of exclamations marks. Clearly my writing has deteriorated over the interval.

I quite enjoyed this! Or I haven't read Hetalia fic in so long but this definitely reminded me about all the good parts. I'll be looking forward to more of this! You show Helvetica's troubled thoughts (plus France) so well. And I did like the dream sequence with Austria, and how she realized it wasn't true as it happened.

Thank-you new reader! I know not where you came from, but I was beginning to worry that everyone was politely ignoring me and hoping I'd just drop it and go away!

The thing about Helvetica is that she has such a wide spread and disjointed country that her control over her own head has to be really strong and self aware. So even when her subconscious tries to shield its self with happier memories and dreams, her mind fights it with common sense.

Please excuse me while I try to find... words.

This is all I've ever wanted. This is THE fic and the subject I've ever wanted and now you've gone and done it and it's perfect. You even mentioned the bears! And crying at mountains!
And the way you portrayed them all, and the dream, and... everything!

I wish I were better at this english-speaking thing to gush properly, but oh gosh, I am going to read it all over again. With glee.

perfect

No it's alright. I KNOW you're just holding back to spare my feelings, tell me every little thing I got wrong I can take it.

I'm so glad you like it! I put it up quietly two days ago and wussed out about telling anyone. I was worried you'd seen it and were too busy organising a mob to bring me to justice to comment... sometimes my insecurities overtake my ego...

I hope I didn't go overboard with the stuffing of every Swiss stereotype and factoid I could find into it!

noooooooo I just stopped checking my Flist obsessively a while ago since all my friends have pretty much left and thus there is rarely anything to check anymore *sadface*
SO THANK YOU FOR POSTING A LINK ON TUMBLR or I would have missed the most perfect fic of all THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE!!!

and nope, nothing overboard. I love that you mentioned the Bears (I'm from Bern and thus biased)(actually no that tidbit always amused me for some reason. WHY WOULD YOU EVEN TAKE THE BEARS), and the whole Swiss guard thing and pretty much everything is perfect and

I want to favorite this 100x times sob I love it so much

Yes I too have just moved over to tumbler because the kids are crazier and more fun, but I'm gonna post here cause I think long fics look silly there. I'll mention on Tumbler as I post updates cause I like the traffic I'm getting.

Thank-you so much, I'm really glad you like it, it makes all the research I ended up not needing worth it!

AND NOW I HAVE ALL THIS EXPECTATION RIDDING ON THE REST OF THE DAMN FIC AND I BETTER TRY AND FINISH IT QUICK!

I'm so sorry for not reading this sooner! Real life got in the way, so I didn't remember to check for an update until now.

I love your characterization of Switzerland/Helvetica/Vrendi! There are so many layers! How she's trying to be stoic about this, but also sensibly acknowledges that it's not a completely natural state of being for her, that eventually she will cry or rage or throw large metal keys at France's head :D And she's smart and strong enough to know to keep silent on the matter of French occupation and to bide her time.

BTW, also love your little detail of how she has French, German and Italian sides to her personality. I laughed at how the German side would react, and having read Towards German Unity, went "That's my Luise, and Prussia would have France's balls if he ever tried that on Germany!"

Now I will promptly go and read the next chapter and reply to that as well!

AHSKASDBPL:DOB! Long comment! I love you!

I always saw Switzerland is a complex creature, like every other Nation. The famous homesickness, taking in Liechtenstein, mixed feelings about Austria verse the gun tooting, beat-you-with-my-peace-prize neutrality.

So yes, you are so right, Vreni is a layered creature. At her very core she is a gentle nurturing girl. But years of having to deal with her much more powerful neighbours continually trying to take her land had lead to her developing a strong protective layer of stoicism and sarcasm.

Thank-you! I try to slip in as much as possible how she's not German, she's Swiss and therefore has all these different sides to her as well. (Luise would totally kick him and Prussia would just call advice from the side while watching)

Another rely! Oh boy.

Whoa!!! This is just really written and executed... wonderfully! I really like how you had established all this "tense" atmosphere in this chapter and the way you had projected Helvetica's conflicts and struggles! It was just too simply beautiful! MY EYES HAS BEEN AWED BY THIS AWESOMENESS I THINK I'M GONNA DIE!

This is just perfect! I really love this fic! And the fact that Switzerland (and Liechtenstein?) are genderbended! (Its not like I don't like them in their original genders but there were just too many times in my part wherein I spend hours imagining what would it have been had Switzerland is a female...) And the way you had characterized Helvetica is just so wonderful!

And the dream... now I really felt sad about that part. :(

But anyway, know that I am really, really happy to have seen this fic! (Good thing Google became a good guy and showed me this wonderful fic which I would be dying to follow! =D)

You found me via google? I am intrigued. But glad you could make it, none the less.

Thank-you so much! Helvetica is a complex little bundle and I'm glad people seem to be going with me on this one.

Originally Switzerland was going to be a girl in the Hetalia manga, according to a baseless rumour I ran across on a blog somewhere. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. (? I don't see the cannon changing that much with Vreni instead of Bash, but maybe your femSwiss is different?)

Don't be sad, be like Vreni and channel your rage instead!

Thanks for the lovely review! How you continue to enjoy this fic as I loose the plot completely and muck about in complex historical settings.

Indeed. XDDD I've found you via google. I think I've searched "AusSwitz" that time? Either way, know that I cannot describe how much happy feels descended from the heavens and possessed me by the time I stumbled upon this! =D ( ... )

I'm continuing, I'm continuing! I just hit a bit of a road block trying to finish one scene but I'm almost done. Usually I post every two weeks. The research does take a lot of time, so thanks for the complements!

I want it to be AusSwitz, it's one of my favourite pairings and there will be flashes of it throughout the story. But it's also a historical story so other pairings have to acknowledged as well. I'm tying like anything to make it end with AusSwitz, but it may not happen as firmly and smut like as I'd prefer.
