huge amounts of water in launceston over the past few days. last night we watched napoleon dynamite, and then took anna home. on the way back we noticed heaps of water pooling at the roundabout near our place. we stopped and ran through the water and just laughed coz it was so much water. being stupid as we are, we decided to drive around and see if we could find any better water spots. eventually we ended up on the west tamar highway, which had risen considerably since we were last there. a car was stuck in the water, so we pushed the car (and the insanely overstressed woman) up onto the grass median strip as far as we could. during this the woman managed to spin the tyres and cover me, and only me, in mud. thanks lady.
the water was rising so that the tyres on a van parked on the highway were slowly being covered. a ute managed to make it through the water, but then chay (who bob and i had worked with at maccas) drove up and stupidly decided to drive his commodore through the water, ignoring us as we yelled and waved our arms. he ended up sitting on the roof of his car for awhile until he realised he couldn't stay there. then another, even stupider idiot drove into the water, again ignoring us. while we were yelling at him, a woman drove into the back of another car waiting behind the water. then we helped a chick move her car off the middle of the highway as it wasn't starting.
i called the cops with bob's phone, and after moving another car and calming down the woman we decided we should go home before we couldn't get there anymore. as we drove off the ambulance and police arrived. we went home, dried out in front of the fire, made sure tris didn't have any glass left in his foot, and had hot chocolate. what a crazy night.
