No offense

I was offended last night by what somebody said. Nikki and I were at a concert...she had gone to see Eisley, which I regretfully missed due to sleep, but the headliner was some Christian band called Switchfoot. Now, she was good and toasty drunk and feeling a little mean. As we were walking towards the back to go smoke someone said, "Jesus loves you." She whirrled around and said, "F*** off, the Devil loves me too!" She found it hilarious, but I was actually offended. That actually made me feel kinda good, though, being offended by that. I'm used to so many people joking around about my religion, talkin smack, making wisecracks, and I don't often get offended cause I know it's all in good fun, and people are entitled to their opinions. I'm not one of those people who try to shove Christianity down everyone's throats, because that has proven uneffective on people that aren't complete sheep/lemmings/whatever. But this comment she made actually, fully and truly offended me. She felt ridiculously bad about it and apologized ALL night, but I told her it was good because I really ought to be offended by something.

And then of course I proceeded to make fun of the people there...hmm. But it was because they were at a CHRISTIAN concert, and they were all there throwing up rock and roll devil horns at the band. How stupid is that??? The band was actually pretty good (I thought), but we left early to go dancing, and boy did I dance my ass off last night. I probably lost like 50 lbs. Exaggeration....I'm good at that.

I know I haven't been the best Christian ever, with my hateful deeds, my drug use, premarital sex, interest in mysticism/studying other religions, and full on swearing like a motherf***er...perhaps even laughing at jokes against what I believe in. But know what? Jesus loves me anyway. That's why I think it was great that I was offended. I think it's important for Christians to have a sense of humor, and not be so offended by every little thing they see or hear on TV, or wherever. But sometimes offense just ought to be taken.
