Iron Liz pulled the red bow back into place for the umpteenth time. No matter how hard she tried, it never looked centered. She sighed in frustration just as she heard a high pitched squee behind her. She turned around to see Dodger practically glowing with joy, dressed as Sailor Mercury. Liz grinned.
“I’ll take that as a compliment. You look great.” She fiddled with the short orange skirt of her Sailor Venus costume. Linkara had given it to her for Christmas, and this was her first chance to wear it. “Are you sure it looks alright?” she asked, just a little self-conscious.
Dodger scoffed at the question, “Alright? It looks amazing! Come on, grab your stuff and lets go find the others!” She practically skipped towards the bathroom door. Dodger had actually cut and dyed her hair rather wear a wig: luckily, all Liz needed to do was straighten hers. She turned back to the counter and pulled on the elbow length gloves.
Then she picked up the ring. Her engagement ring. From Linkara.
Liz smiled to herself as she looked into it: a single silver band with a small, square cut diamond set in the center. She thought back to the moment he gave it to her. It was after a long day of filming. She was tired, but Linkara, energetic as always, dragged her out to dinner. They spent the night talking and laughing, and on their way back to the apartment, Linkara had stopped to tie his shoe. She waited for him, but after a minute, she got impatient and turned around … to find him still on one knee, in the snow, holding up a ring box in front of him. He said -
“Liz! Hurry up! They’re waiting for us!”
Her head snapped up. Dodger was propping the door open, waiting impatiently.
“Sorry, I’m coming.” Liz threaded the ring onto a chain around her neck. Her glove was too thick to wear the ring confortably, and Liz was worried about losing it at the con anyway, so Dodger had volunteered a necklace to keep it safe. Liz slipped into her heels and followed Dodger out the door and onto the floor of MagFest10

Liz and Dodger wove their way through the maze of convention goers, vender booths and other cosplayers. Occasionally, a fan would come up and take a picture with Liz, ask her to sign something, and or congratulate her on recent debut on TGWTG. Liz smiled and laughed everytime, but Dodger was politely insistent - thank you for stopping by, we appreciate your support, but we really have somewhere to be - and continued dragging Liz through the main hall. She almost lost her shoe at one point and finally forced Dodger to slow their pace. “It’s just a Channel Awesome Meet-Up, why the rush?”
Dodger just huffed and replied, “Because, it starts in twenty minutes and we need to be there before then.”
Liz muttered under her breath, “Why, its not like they’ll all just be hanging around the door waiting. The world won’t end if we’re ten minutes late,” but she walked just a little faster anyway.

Dodger led Liz further and further into the convention center. Liz was just about to question her directions, when they passed a sign with an arrow pointing toward the double doors at the end of the hallway. It read “Private Gathering: Lovhaug Party”.
Liz stopped in front of it, confused. “Hey Dodger, if this is for all of the contributors, why’s Linkara’s name on the sign?”
Dodger tried to brush it off, “Oh, well, that’s weird. I guess he was the one who actually booked the room or something. Anyway, we’re holding people up, so lets go already.”
Then Liz heard it. “… Is that the wedding march?” Yes … it was. Slightly sped up and remixed, but definitely Mendelssohn's Wedding March in C.
Dodger froze. Liz took one look at her face and put two and two together in just a few seconds. “Oh. My. God! Dodger … what the hell … ?” She stopped mid-sentence. She was quivering. She hugged her arms to her stomach, but it didn’t help at all.
“Here...” Dodger helped her sit down in a nearby folding chair. “... I knew it would be a good idea to get here early,” she muttered to herself. She opened a nearby duffel bag and pulled out a plastic cup and a bottle of wine. She popped the cork and poured a few ounces.“I thought you might need a little … encouragement before hand.” Liz smiled gratefully, her mind swirling. Then she started to giggle, then she couldn’t stop.
She should’ve known he’d do something like this:
Wedding planning was hell. After two weeks of constant decision making, Liz had thrown in the towel and told her fiance, “It doesn’t matter to me where or when or what color the damn roses are! I already said yes, so just tell me where to stand and I’ll be there.” All she needed a secular service for a small group of friends and family. From that point on, Linkara had done most of the planning, with his parents help.
“I knew it … somehow. I knew he was hiding something. I figured he had some new toy, or had bought a car or something not … this.” Another giggle slipped out.
Dodger kneeled next to her, concerned and started rubbing her arm, soothing her. “Hey, are you going to be alright. He’s such a dumbass, I told him a ‘surprise wedding’ would be a bad idea, but ...”
Liz shook her head. “No. Its … it’s fine, I just … need a moment.”
Dodger still looked concerned, as she handed over the wine, which Liz took gratefully. After a few minutes, and a few sips of alcohol, Liz felt strong enough to stand again. Dodger reached back into the duffel and pulled out a veil and a bouquet of white roses. Liz suddenly realized what she was wearing, and flushed bright red. “Dodger, why the hell am I wearing this thing? I can’t get married looking like … this! It’s …”
Dodger cut her off again, as she stretched up to affix the veil to Liz’s bow. “Perfect. Now come on. They really are all waiting for you.”
Dodger grabbed a bouquet for herself from the duffel, then knocked three times on the double doors. The music faded out and Liz’s heart leapt into her mouth. Then … the bridal march started and the double doors swung open.

It was … well … she couldn’t describe it in a single word.
Inside, was a large room full of chairs, which were, in turn full of everyone on her guest list, as well as Linkara’s. White roses were strewn about everywhere, and gold stars and moons hung from the ceiling. Standing at the front was a row of people, all sailor scouts and tuxedo kamen. She started laughing again, and Dodger, who must had grabbed her arm at some point was leading her into the room full of her friends and family. Someone in camouflage, the Critical Marine, crab walked in front of her and snapped several shots of her grinning face. When the flash cleared, she realized that she and Dodger were walking, slowly toward the front of the room, where she could now pick out faces. Nostalgia Chick dressed as Sailor Moon, Marzgurl as Sailor Jupitor, Roses as Sailor Mars, and Scarlett … she was Sailor Neptune. Liz’s grin widened even further. On the other side were the Critic, Spoony, Jew Wario, and Todd, all dressed like Tuxedo Mask, complete with capes and top hats. And in the middle.
Her breath evaporated as she saw Linkara turn to face her, dressed head to toe in a white version of the same outfit. His cape had a gold lining and he wore his white fedora. When he saw her, his face lit instantly. She almost ran the last few feet to him, but Dodger kept her in tempo with the music. When they reached the front stage, Liz turned and hugged Dodger with all her strength. “Thanks sis. You’re the best.”
Dodger hugged her back, just as tightly. “Just remember, all you have to do is read the card then say, ‘I do’, don’t forget.” Then she leaned back and went to take her place at the head of the bridesmaids. Liz took Linkara’s gloved hand in hers.
"You look like the Kaito Kid." she noted.
He grinned, "And you look beautiful."
Her eyes started to well up as they turned together to face the the man with shaggy brown hair and a suede overcoat. He coughed once, then pulled out a stack of papers and began reading from the top one in a thick Kiwi accent. “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today, to witness the joining of two truly awesome people, Linkara and Iron Liz ...”
The rest of the ceremony was a blur. Apparently, Liz followed Dodger’s advice and read her wedding vows as did Linkara, because the next thing she knew he was pulling off her glove and slipping a ring on her finger. She returned the favor, and then Suede was speaking again. “... and now, In the Name of the Moon, I pronounce you husband and wife … you may now kiss your spouse.
They needed no further encouragement. Linkara lifted up her veil, and Liz leaned into him, kissing him with as much raw passion and joy as she could manage. He returned the favor.
