Mmmmmm... have I ever mentioned how much I love
coriander?
I love the zing it adds to curries, tom yum, etc. In fact, for dinner tonight I just whipped up a piping hot bowl of tom yum soup with prawns, crabsticks, fish slices, squid and mussels-along with copious amounts of the plant. Mmmmmm....
As I may have mentioned before, over here meals are not provided so we either have to eat out or cook. Eating out at every meal hits your wallet quite hard so most of the time the guys cook their own meals. Of course I have happily taken up the challenge to hone my culinary skills, so when I hit the supermarket I went on a grocery and sauce buying frenzy. Unfortunately, I saw to my horror that they didn't have any coriander stalks there. So I bought a whole pot of it.
Yes, I love it so much I even bought a coriander plant.
It's this live plant in a pot that they sell next to the vegetable section and it's really meant for you to harvest your own veggies. Right now it sits on the kitchen window sill close to sunlight and fresh air. And every day I water it religiously as though it were my own little baby. Every time I cook curry or tom yum or even mee goreng, I pluck a few leaves from the plant and sprinkle it into whatever I'm cooking.
Tomorrow it looks like it's going to be Thai Green Curry with chicken for dinner. I'd better keep plucking from the plant before it dies!
