Burninating the Job Market

Well. Had an interview today. I am optimistic. It's for a place called Q&D Manufacturing, an old spin-off of Tectronix and a teeny tiny company of about 18 people. Near as I can tell, I'm on a very short short list and right now at the top of it. It's down to me and one other person they're interviewing tomorrow, and unless they completely blow their socks off I feel like I've got the job. Trying not to jinx it though. Knocking on wood, crossing fingers. Hoping.

It'd be near-to-full to full time and $12 an hour. It's partially secretary/office admin position, a little bit of whatever else needs doing (which goes hand in hand with a small business like this, everyone does odd jobs when necessary), and also as someone who's willing to help the place grow and provide constructive criticism and idea-generating critical thinking skills for keeping the place moving, growing, and on an even keel. We'll see how it goes. If I can be confident and work with the place, not be afraid to use the brain I've got, then I could do it. I think this could be very good for me, a place to really grow and learn and be challenged. I relish the thought.

In other news, I need to lose some weight. I'm heavier than I've been since high school now, and my clothes don't fit right. Zac's trying to lose weight too; got me a gym membership so we can both start going on a regular basis.

Blarrgh. Of course, the BK I had for dinner isn't helping. I feel all gross and bloated and ill. That might also be a lack of water. Who knows? Anyway, time to go read Harry Potter until I fall asleep.

Oh yeah, I'm rereading Harry Potter again. Have been for a while. I'm about halfway through Deathly Hallows now, having started from the beginning. It's been a journey. I forgot how much I loved these books. Making Zac read them too, because it's a big part of my life and I want him to understand. He's stuck in Chamber of Secrets right now. Bah. He'll get there, I hope. One of these days.

Headache. In addition to post-Burger King grossness. Time to read indeed.
