Oi. Been a hectic couple-a days.
Took Simon to the vet on Tuesday. Left him there cos we had to get to work, and got a call an hour later saying he had a huge abcess on his hip from a cat fight. They found a few old scabby claw marks and a bite under his fur when they shaved to take out the abcess.
So now he has 22 stitches on his left hip and one of those awful cone things on his head. He hated it for the first few hours - Tuesday night was one of the most difficult nights of my life for worry and lack of sleep. He's still not too happy about it, but it could be worse. At least he's not sulking and growling all the time anymore. He's actually acting relatively normal by now. I still can't wait until the stitches come out so I can take that damn thing off for good.
Musically, I'm ridin' the high road. I can read now. I can read. I can write in proper musical notation. It's getting to the point where the triangle is complete (what's on the page corresponds to the bass, the bass corresponds to the ear, and the ear finally corresponds what's on the page) and it's just second nature. It's amazing. I actually wrote something last night. (Forgiving the fact that I borrowed part of the chord progression from Hide Your Love Away.) I rented Hard Day's Night and have been watching it religiously for the past several days. It's due back today - but unbeknownst to me, Mum ordered it for me from Amazon before she even knew I'd rented it and liked it. I've found myself with the urge to say things like "gear" and "bird" and "grotty". I'm resisting (mostly). Though I think "ta" will have to make it into my vernacular permanently, but I can blame that on the fact that I used to live with an Australian.
I seem to be going backwards through the Beatles' history.
Speaking of Australians, Ben might loan me his electric guitar, as he usually plays his acoustic and I've got an urge to make my way upward in the world of music. Chords are handy, and guitars are MUCH better composition instruments than the bass could ever be. Really, pianos are better, but guitar is closer to what I already know. I also might pick up the drums, if I can... I dunno, go play Sarah's or something, because I am NOT trying to get a drum kit in my apartment.
If Ben loans me his guitar, and after I pay off Charlie (my fretless, not Cookman), I will have three guitars in my apartment. And I've decided - my next tattoo will be the circle of fifths, left shoulder. I'm getting that this summer, assuming I have money.
I also got my food handler's card. Finally.
