this announcement i'm about to make is about a week and two days delayed. i waited before typing it for anyone to see just so my initial euphoria and cheesiness could subside and i could tell it matter-of-factly.
i won the bronze medal for both the French Pastries and the Chocolate Cake categories.
i won the silver medal for both the Cake Deco and the Plated Dessert cateogories.
Mind you, I wasn't the only bronze medallist and silver medallist in any of the categories. There's a certain number of points you have to achieve to get a bronze, silver, or gold medal and if you reach it, then you get a medal.
Still, I've never won anything in my life--well there was that thing when I was in kinder, haha, and that thing in senior year in high school--and to have heavy shiny round stuff hanging in my room is a good reminder that I'm probably on the right career path.
I still want to write though.

This entire kitchen week was practicals week. I had figured that I would definitely be stressed and harrassed and basically PO'd the whole week so I had forewarned my friends that if I at any time would bite their heads off, they should not take it personally. It's just me and my hormones talking during practicals. Times five.
Surprisingly, I was only stressed during the first two days. The last three days went well, especially today. I was relaxed, and calm, and steady...I was a freaking peaceful river. Or maybe a lake, I don't know, something just flowing and flowing and flowing...
The guys were telling me when we got in the kitchen, "O Jill, wag ka ma-stress ngayon. Friday the 13th pa naman, pero wag ka pa rin ma-stres ha.." Chaa. I didn't even realize until they said that it was the 13th and well I've never really taken it seriously, the whole bad luck thing on a Friday the 13th.
If we're talking superstitions though, well...I've been wearing my favorite heart-shaped pendant on my necklace chain for the past three days, the days when the practicals went well. And whenever I wear this particular pendant, I usually have a good day. In fact, I used to wear every time I had an exam, especially the bwisit ones. It calms me down and I like having to run it against my chin.
ANyway, my group averaged a 95 this week, and I think we got the highest, or at least tied with another group. We were so on today, and didn't even matter that one of our groupmates, T, was absent. Believe me, it's hard to be the leader of a group where it's mostly guys, and all the guys are all laid-back while you're high-strung. It was just me and my guys today: JM, OL, and OF. They did pretty well, and I'm incredibly proud of them.
