nine years old, i sat on the floor and watched tv
for some crazy reason this new house had cable
and i was all about it
you can't do that on television, nickelodeon, and MTV
skeletons on strings playing the drums
strumming guitar
i was thinking "whoa, music put to picture . . . what a good idea"
the bones were singing their hearts out
'I will get by. I will survive'
they were attached to strings and it was so blatantly obvious that there were puppeteers moving them all around
then all of a sudden the personified skeletons dissolved into real people
that jammed on drums and sang and slapped bass
real people with long shaggy hair, baggy t-shirts, and jeans
it was so cool
then i was thinking "wow, i hope i can make something like this some time in my life'
i never went on to 'follow the dead' or become a 'dead fan'
instead i just became more of a pop culture addict
and a people watcher
