For the first time in 20 years I did not help with the harvest of grapes. My mom was acting all stressed and crazy said that if I had other things to do then I shouldn't come and help. I told her I didn't have any more to do this year than I had for any of the past 20 years, but if she didn't need me I wouldn't come. She said she didn't want me to feel obligated or like I had to put things in my life aside to work in the vineyard. I wish she had said that 20 years ago! It is a little too late now to say that. I know she is just stressed out but ......jeez. It is not necessary to take it out on everyone around her. My youngest sister had to hang up on her one night last week and now they are not speaking. My mom called me at work, yelled at me then said she had to go. I called her back and she didn't answer so I left her messages letting her know that was not acceptable behavior. Now, she is acting like nothing happened. I have a suspicion she has not listened to those messages I left. Either that or she is ignoring them. Two sisters down and one to go. Mom yelled at middle sis but as of today they are still speaking.
My borther in law is coming in to interview with the city school system. He'll be here Wed-Sat. My little sis is going to be in D.C. for a wedding 2 weekends from now. So, I'm gooing up Sunday and Monday to see her.
Since I got sick I've been spending a lot of time with Charlie Brown. We cook, make jewelry together and watch sci-fi. We love the new "Heroes" show on Mondays. I was really fighting it at first becasue I hate getting used to having someone around almost every night and day and then they get a girlfriend/boyfreind and I'm left feeling lonely. But, as we do both make jewelry we do get some work done when we are hanging and it's nice to have someone around. It helps to fill the void my dog left.
Saturday night I am having a "Thank You" party for all of my freinds that really supported me and my dog during her last months. Scooter guy has prepared a 4 course menu. I cleared out my living room and put a dining room table in it. I'm going to decorate the room with candles, use a tablecloth with my china and I'm borrowing real silver place settings. I have an appropriate wine for each course except one. I'll have to make a trip to Wine Gourmet for that one. I'm very excited about the party!
