(no subject)
Screech- I awoke and turned off the air conditioner, only to look back up and make sure I had actually turned the knob in the right direction. It sounded like it was still on. Then I realized what I was hearing was hard rain. It has been so long since I have heard it rain from my bedroom, I had forgotten what it sounded like. I got up, got ready, and started off to work. I realized as I started out that I have never driven to work in the rain to my new job. That has been 9 months.
The rain was stopping but the roads were still wet and obviously slippery. I passed a new red double cab truck going over the bridge. Then, over the bridge I was stopped at the light. I wasn't going fast enough to screech to a halt, but when stopping I realized the road was a bit slippery. So, when I heard the loud screech and looked in my rear view mirror to see the truck barreling out of control towards me, I knew it wasn't going to stop. The truck was probably 2 car lengths behind me and I had just enough time to pull over partially into the turn lane and partially out into the intersection. At the last second the driver, seemingly realizing he was going to hit me, swerved into the lane next to me, which, fortunately again, was empty. We had to sit at the light for a few more seconds and I was in shock thinking how I just averted a huge crash. Then thinking how maybe I should have stayed put as I need a new car anyway. Then the light turned green and we drove off. I didn't see the red truck again. I think the driver slowed down……...a lot.
I am going for my last tat appointment today. Well, my lat for a while. Getting the last 5 filled in. I must remember to take a photo tonight and post it so I remember when they were finally done.
