CHANGE!

Tomorrow I am going to do something that I have never (to my knowledge) done before. I'm going to vote for a Democrat. That's right! I, the right-wing-nut-job, am going to vote for an honest to goodness Democrat. Why? I'm glad you asked...

Saturday I was exiting a local grocery store and a man approached me and said "I'm Bill Day and I'm a Democrat," (Bill Day is running for the 1st congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives) to which I responded "I'm Chris and I'm a Republican." The look on his face was priceless! Anyway, I talked with him for a little bit and found out that he was a nice guy. I asked him how he would have voted on the bail-out bill and he told me that he would have voted no to the first one, then yes to the second. He also stated that he didn't like all the pork in the second (I wonder, then, why he would have voted for it, but that's a different story). He offered me some propaganda and I politely told him that my mind was made up and his nicely printed cards would be more profitable if they were given to someone who was still undecided.

I was impressed that he was standing there at a grocery store shaking hands and "putting himself out there." I as so impressed that I decided to vote for him ... for U.S. Senate. That's right, U.S. Senate. See, former Gov. Gilmore is the Republican nominee for our vacated Senate seat (John Warner is retiring) and he is going to have his rear-end handed to him by another former Governor Mark Warner (no relation to the current Senator).

I don't like Jim Gilmore (R), I like Mark Warner (D) even less. So I decided to write in "Bill Day." I do this as a "pat on the back" to Mr. Day. I know he isn't going to win (Warner has a 20 point lead), but I wanted to do something for the man while not compromising my support for Rob Whitman.

So there ya go. I'm voting for a Democrat this year!
