Kittens will not save you here

Out at a crowded bar, my group unfortunately lands in a major pass-through zone. We're moving for bartenders, crates of beer, buckets of ice, and a seemingly-unending stumble of tipsy dingbats.

Random dude pauses in my peripheral vision, clearly seeking a path through. I move further into our circle, gesturing at him to go past and then turn back to the group.

I feel a hand slip around one side of my waist and hear a voice in my opposite ear, "Oh, were you waiting for me to show up?"

"No, I was waiting for you to go past."
I didn't even bother to see his reaction. Why are people so opportunistically creepy?
