Dragon*Con 2011

Sep 07, 2011 22:04

I got back from D*Con yesterday afternoon. Had a great year, but it went by so quickly! I missed all the concerts I wanted to see (JoCo and Freezepop and Cruxshadows) and only went to one panel--the Venture Bros panel. It was a great panel, though, and I'm glad I went!

I'm not sure I'm up for a full day-by-day post, but I'd like to make some notes of things to remember next year.

My pictures are on Flickr and Facebook. Here's the flickr link: Dragon*Con 2011

- Make a sleep schedule: I feel like if I make a schedule for sleeping I'll be less stressed out all weekend. I can't do everything, and I need to accept that and take a nap.

- Watch the Parade, don't march in it: Marching almost killed me. I was exhausted (from getting little to no sleep) and so dehydrated that I ended up missing photo shoots afterwards. :(

- Wear costumes for more than an hour at a time: I wore Queen's Blade for two or three hours on Friday, but only managed to stay in Black Gold Saw for about an hour and a half. I think that was due mainly to the annoyance of having claws and knee-spikes that got in my way, and a wig that kept getting tangled up in my fingers and zipper.

- Fireball Whiskey is wonderful. (I need to remember that for every other con ever. hehe.)

- Take MOAR pictures, and be in more of my own pictures. I took about 130, but I really tried to be a good little photographer. I'd like to take more pics next year.

- Walk around more downstairs. I always feel like I miss out on some of the best costumes, and I feel like I spend a lot of time in my room. More than I need to...

- Play Werewolf!

Costume Notes/Thingies:
- Only 1 person recognized "Countrycide" Gwen. As such, I have no pictures of it other than the one I have of me and Flat Ryan. I knew it was kind of a random costume, and I didn't think many people would get it, but I'm glad someone did. And I'm glad it's not a high-maintenance costume. It was probably the most comfortable thing I wore all weekend. (SO MANY POCKETS!)

- Finding a wall for the Queen's Blade group to lean up against was a necessity. ProTip: Contrary to popular belief, you don't have the right to take pictures of my ass w/o my permission, you creepy asshole. Don't be surprised if I throw someone's phone across the Atrium next year.

- I need to suck it up and make a new catsuit. I honestly don't think I'll wear Catwoman again until I get one. :(

- My Dr. Girlfriend wig was all messed up. I need to remember how the bangs are supposed to look before I put it on. That was probably my favorite costume of the weekend, though. I missed doing groups with my friends, and Venture Bros is a perfect group to do because you can ham it up and be silly the whole time.

- Bazookas are awesome. (And surprisingly light!)

- I need to make some cute dresses for next year to wear around.
