Snowflake Challenge

Day 12: What makes you fannish? And by that we mean, what is it about a tv show/movie/book/band/podcast/etc that takes you from, "Yeah, I like that," to "I need MOAR!!!" Is it a character? A plotline? The pretty? Subtext that’s just screaming to be acknowledged? Tell us what it is that gets you to cross that line into fandom.

I think what gets me into fandom is complicated. Mostly, I think the bigger the plotholes, the more likely I'll fall in. BUT, it has to be otherwise good quality. Acting has to be good. Themes have to be good. Otherwise I'll just get bored. Complicated characters are a definite bonus.

These days, I'm barely active in fandom. I have been rewatching The Flash. Having people who want to talk about a show is pretty crucial for me. I can't sustain interest in a vacuum.

I saw someone else say Boromir's death was what got them into fandom. Arthur's death was what killed fandom for me. I will never be that invested in a tv show again. Maybe that's sad, but I'm pretty happy with the balance I've got going now. A little podficcing, a lot of original art.

If you want to read a more thorough post on how I got into fandom, that's here.
