Thanks so much! I am sure you would have been fascinated by some of the directorial decisions. I certainly was and I'm not even into theater at that level. :D

Sounds like it! I'd love to see Branagh on stage one of these days. Maybe by the time he's doing Lear the stars will align.

I have to say, I didn't think he shone. Not until the end, really. I don't know if it was because he was both directing it and acting in it or what.

Yeah, directing yourself is incredibly hard. I don't think he's entirely succeeded in movies--when I watch those there are always moments where I think "you thought you got this across because you knew what you intended," or "another director would have dialed you back here, rather than admiring how far you can spit when you're pissed". People occasionally suggest that I try it--and that on stage, where I wouldn't even have dailies to watch--and I'm all HA HA HA NOPE!
