::hugs::

Yeah, raw about the shooting. I don't know if they will talk about it at school. It is entirely possible that even if they don't officially talk about it, the kids will talk about it. Also, it might come up in Sunday school.

There is just too much I want to get done on Saturdays.

Wow, look at you, on top of the world again! Go you!

Yeah.

Well, I think part of it is that I can''t just go about my business and do what I want when I want as we all have to get together for the family meeting and, intellectually, I get that the meetings are important, but I always feel like there are other tasks nudging at me to be done too.

I do much better with family time when I'm not in the house.

LeVar Burton made a post yesterday that might help you out some with talking to your kids...https://readingrainbowblog.wordpress.com/2012/12/14/a-word-from-levar-talking-with-our-children-about-the-elementary-school-shootings/

Am making candycane/white choc chip cookies. For the first time in Forever, Jim and I didn't need to get up at dawn's first light--so of course we were up before the birds this morning ;( There is a nap looming in the near future and the bed monster is calling.

Thank you. Probably my kids will not be as freaked out as I am imagining. It will seem remote and not connected to their reality in any way. I need to just tell them.

Oooh, sounds lovely. I need to boot the cookie decorators out of the kitchen and get started on my pork dishes:D

The whole kosher thing is not an issue for me. I never kept Kosher. My Jewish grandmother didn't either. :D

I agree, but god, this is such a hard issue:(

Well, you know, there are different "flavors" of Judaism. Only some sects keep Kosher.

Ah, no. I didn't know that. I would be much more vegetarian if I lived alone or with someone else. When I was single, I ate meat about once a week. I could never totally give it up.

*sigh*

Why are you resenting Saturdays?

We've chosen not to tell our kids for now. If they find out about it somewhere else and ask, we won't lie, but I don't see the need to freak them out about whether or not they're safe at school unless it comes up.

Too much to do. I'm not at liberty to do things on my schedule because of family meetings.

I told the girls at lunch. They seemed to absorb the info and moved on. Maybe there will be questions later, but I doubt it.
