First day of school

I sent the kids off bright and early this morning and they were completely happy and helpful and there was no whining and they even walked to school cheerfully despite a little drizzle.  Let's hope this presages a good trend for our mornings:D  It's so weird for me to be sending them off at the same time and have the whole day to myself knowing they are just down the street.  I might almost miss their little chattering voices.

Note my new icon.  It is a drawing DD2 did for me in the car the other day.  She has this thing called Squiggle on the Go and it gives you a shape and then you spin an arrow and it gives the orientation.  So, she drew a dragon (can't remember if I asked her to draw me one or if she came up with that on her own; I just wanted her to stay awake in the car!).  Then, in an attempt to keep her engaged, I asked her to draw fire and then she thought she was done so I asked for scales too.  I think this dragon is adorable and it makes me feel like I'm doing a good job inculcating at least one of my kids into the wonderful world of scifi/fantasy (I think the other one is at least half way there already).

So, I had a nice morning, hanging out with another mom from school and then buying a few items I forgot at the grocery store.  I chatted with my mom.  I have goulash cooking.  I folded laundry.  And I still have 20 minutes before I have to leave.  Yeeee haw!
