Quick rundown of trip to NY

Jun 30, 2008 08:37

We did go see the new baby every day, but we also did a ton of other things. Here is the basic rundown:

  • Monday
    • took train up to NYC and arrived around 4:30.  Grabbed some chicken fingers for the girls and headed to my brother's.  I think we cooked something easy for dinner and went to the apartment where we stayed for the rest of the week
  • Tuesday
    •
  • Wednesday
    • went to Staten Island (somehow it took us three hours to get to the Chidren's museum there which was fabulous; luckily it only took an hour and a half to get back)
  • Thursday
    • hung out with baby in the morning and went to the carousel in Prospect Park and also to a historic house (The Leffert's House)
  • Friday
    • went into Chinatown for dim sum and then we walked from there across the Brooklyn Bridge.  DD1 walked all that way too; I was very impressed.  We then went to Jacques Torres' chocolate shop in DUMBO and also a bookstore and a children's store.  We went home and collapsed.  My dad got in that evening.
  • Saturday
    • After a humongous meltdown on the part of DD1while I was at the Farmer's Market, we went on the Staten Island Ferry again (for my dad, so we just got on one way and then came right back).  After that, we went to some restaurant for lunch with my dad's cousin and her husband. Then we came home.  We were visited by my brother and his wife and baby at our apartment.  That was fun.  Then my mother ordered me to go out to dinner with my dad and my cousin and her family. It was ok, but I wasn't really hungry.  It was good not to have to put my children to bed though.
  • Sunday
    • We got up and ate a little bit and I packed.  Then we went over to my brother's for one last hour of visiting and hit the road.  My parents got me almost all the way to the train which was wonderful.  They hung out with us for an hour while we waited for it to be time to go.  Yay for parents!
    • The train was ok; I had to put the three of us in two seats as there were no two facing two seats open:(  And then that stinky woman had to be so nasty; thank god she switched cars.  We had a good time playing games and reading books and looking out the window.  At the end I was playing Set with DD1 and the guy across the isle said "ooh, that's a good game":)  He was very impressed with how well DD1 was doing.  It is a fun game.
I seem unable to remember what we did on Tuesday.  I am pretty sure we stayed in Brooklyn, but aside from that, I don't really know.  Maybe we just went to the playground and hung out with my SIL and her mother.
