Venomous Pendantry

I've just finished reading "Spiderman: Birth of Venom". It was okay, nice tobe reminded of how Spidey got his black costume, and his run-in with Puma. Though Venom himself, what a rubbish bad guy. Oh some dude has been wronged by Peter Parker and he gets taken over by Spidey's emo symbiote suit which is feeling unloved and unwanted! So easily beaten, just like in Spiderman 3. In Spiderman 3, the black suit has the effect of making Peter less emo, but makes his hair get more emo. Todd McFarlane's art has really aged badly; I remember at the time, the Venom issues of Amazing Spider-man were going for crazy money. My friend Salvador would pretty much spend every art class drawing McFarlane inspired pictures. Sure, Todd draws Spidey well, but therest of the artwork is not that great. I guess maybe having read the "Deathof the Stacey's" collection shortly before didn't help, Gil Kane and John Romita's artwork is brilliant in that, maybe I'm just a classicist.

One thing that really annoyed about Amazing Spiderman 317, is that Venom challenges Spidey to a fight on a deserted beach as it is supposedly deserted in winter. However, there are clearly leaves on the trees, everything is green! Ahhhh, this sort of thing really really annoys me, I find it hard to watch Christmas TV specials because so often it's clear that they have been filmed in the middle of summer. I'll admit that I can be pretty obsessive about things like this.
