Vig: Journeyman

What: Paddy gets his (honorary) knot about 17 turns after he'd expected to.

The letter came in the box on top of the knot, encouraging language amongst the congratulatory: keep trying out the flavor combinations he showed them in his try-out and he could be looking at another promotion several turns down the road. He wouldn't earn a salary from theh craft of course, his rank was honorary, ratherIt was the third paragraph though that surprised him - though hhe could train cooks at the restaurant and that would count towards those wishing to apply for a craft rank. Paddy whistled lowly and finished reading the letter, couldn't keep the goofy grin off his face as he set it aside and lifted the fresh set of red and white cords out of the box.

His fingers trailed along the extra loop, the journeyman's loop and for a moment he slipped back through time, to a day before Jekzith, to a day when he'd assured Fort's youngest junior that it wouldn't take long for him to get that loop and then he'd be free to really be /hers/.

Seventeen turns later, he finally had the knot, but it wasn't that particular goldrider he'd be sharing the news with, though he idly pondered writing her a short note. Piper would be happy for him, he was sure.

Here now, today, it was a different motley set of people who sprang to mind as those to tell first: T'mic, Nenita, his parents, his grandmother, even if she no longer recognized him. His children, and in an odd sort of circularity, a different junior at Fort, though it would only be happy news shared among friends.

Grinning again, Paddy had Jekzith reach out to Aath to let Mic know and maybe think about some kind of celebrating, then he headed out to climb aboard his brown's back for the short glide down to the Bowl to start spreading the word.
