How do you crack a coconut? As I discovered a couple of weeks ago, with immsense difficulty.
A hammer didn't do much good, so I used a hacksaw, but half an hour later noticed that the saw was awfully blunt.
It was time to employ drastic measures. So I asked Michael politely to go at it with a drill. Finally, that enabled us to get down to the sweet-tasting water inside, though not without creating a fair bit of smoke through the drilling process (jesus!).
Yes sir, that coconut was a tough nut to crack, but the fruits our labour were delicious. Too bad we couldn't remove and feast upon the actual flesh, but just getting to water was challenge enough for one day. I also noticed that the two holes Michael made and my failed attempt to slice through the shell with a hacksaw combined to make this endearing little face:
There may be a fine knack to opening a coconut in as non-time consuming and as stress-free way as possible. But clearly I don't have the hang of it yet.
