A lady that I've worked with for a couple of years just had her first child last Monday. He was their miracle baby because they were told by the doctors that it wasn't clear if they could ever have kids. Well, things haven't been going that well for them. Baby Nicholas has heart problems so they'll have to operate when he's four months old. They believe that he also has down syndrome. I talked to my mom tonight and his parents were both tested and neither of them carried the gene. But the 21st chromosome split... Nicholas has to have surgery tomorrow on his kidneys. They're not functioning properly so he is not able to urinate. If the stint that they put in doesn't work, they'll have to put him on dialysis. The doctors have given him a 50% chance of living up until his first birthday.
