I guess I will post an update on my life, but it's not very exciting.

A few weeks ago Jen, my ex-roommate who spent last year in England, got a female axolotl named Dottie. Dottie is about ten years old, Jen figured, so she probably won't mate with Piña (the male she's had for two years; I took care of him last year) if they're just in the same tank for a night...

Nope, she was wrong. Since Dottie is older, she's apparently been saving her eggs. And she laid hundreds of them that very night. Seriously, they were everywhere. I went to her house for the first time in a few months and Jen had separated Piña and Dottie, adopted four juvenile axolotls who had their own tank, and had several tanks, buckets, glass bowls (et cetera...) full of eggs.

Now they have all hatched, and I'm glad there's no school going on right now because I think Jen spends most of her time feeding and taking care of them, and trying to separate them into as many containers as possible. She's got two giant tanks with probably over a hundred babies in it each, two ten-gallon tanks full of babies, about two glass bowls and some buckets with maybe ten or twenty babies in it. Not to mention the two adults that will now be separated forever, and the four juveniles.

Anyway, long story short, now I have six babies. They are freaking adorable. I've had them since January 1st, and they live in a seven cup Rubbermaid container. Yesterday I noticed they've started getting little stubs behind their gills where their front legs are going to be. It's so awesome! I've been trying to get good pictures of their faces.

So, I will be raising these six guys until they get too big for the container. Or, if I get a ten-gallon tank, until they get too big to all live in the tank. Or until they start trying to eat each other. I'll keep a photo album going here.

In other news, I went to Salsa Night for the first time on Friday and it was amazing. I love dancing! I can't believe I've never taken a dance class until then. I'm gonna see if I can get into a dance class next semester.

So, two new hobbies. :D
