Nathan took me to see Thor: Ragnarok this Thanksgiving and we had a lot of fun! It was great to see so many familiar characters, their joking around with one another, and the way that they found courage in the face of despair and persevered to victory.
My favorite part of the movie was seeing Thor battle the enemy with his father's weapon - the staff Gungnir. For some reason, that was just really touching and cool. (Now, both Loki and Thor have fought with Gungnir!) The movie also spent time returning us back to the artifact vault - where Odin had stored relics like the Casket of Ancient Winters and the Tesseract. Ah, familiar ground! I know they're just artifacts, but they have such fascinating backstories that each seems to possess its own sense of character.
In a world where I often feel like I'm losing ground, things like this give me a sense of footing for some reason. It's as if there is a place, hidden in a tabernacle, where I can still stand, look around, and take everything in with wide-eyed wonder.
