Waiting for the King

Jan 18, 2017 10:24

This morning, I've been reflecting on the world that God has made. He's made its stones and colors, animals and herbs, skies and stars. It leaves me in awe of the Creator. His is a beautiful world.

I've been wondering, too, how to go about exploring it - diving into details and seeking out peaceful places. Recently, I've been up to my usual listing, transcribing, dissecting, assembling - the biologist and librarian's activities. (Biology and libraries...that reminds me of the Yggdrasil tree that's growing in Odin's library. That's where I ran off to last night, sitting outside the stone pavement by the waters that rush past the observatory.)

Anyway, I've been allowing myself to continue exploring, drawing, researching while I'm waiting. I want to live by faith in God's Son, moving about this life in love toward God and others, as we learned about on Sunday. What does love look like for someone who is kind of an anti-social, detail-obsessive, artifact-digging, jungle-gym-climbing girl? I'm not sure yet, but I hope that I will grow more like Christ each day till we meet.

"...you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come." 1 Thessalonians 9-10

It makes me thankful, too, for all the people whom God has put in my life to steer me in the right direction and keep my hyper-focused mind directed back toward Jesus. Whether it's today or a thousand years from now, He will return again - the king will come this time in glory. He is worthy to take the throne and will reign in righteousness (Psalm 96:10, Jeremiah 23:5).

"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!" Revelation 5:12

Lord, help me to watch and wait and to be a blessing and to be holy as You are holy. Give me courage for this day and time and ease these anxieties with reminders of Your love and power. Open my eyes to see You more from Your word. Help me, too, to see the intricate handiwork of Your creation. Spark in me the energy to inspire enthusiasm among those around me for Your truth. Bless Your word around the world and Your people who bear your Spirit. Guide us along the way and give us confidence in our King Jesus.
