Thoughts from the study of Hebrews

"...All things were created through Him and for Him." Colossians 1:16
What's the meaning of life? All things were created through and for Jesus!

On Jesus

"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus," 1 Timothy 2:5

Believers do not enter a two-party covenant where they are expected to uphold certain conditions in order to receive the blessings of God. God is the one who has provided the way and assurance - by giving us His Son to die for our sins and raising His Son to eternal life. It's by faith that Christians are adopted as God's children and receive the promises of salvation. (See Romans 4:5) It is in Christ that they are saved.

A Psalm of David.
"The LORD said to my Lord, 'Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.' ...The LORD has sworn And will not relent, 'You [are] a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.'" Psalm 110

Amen! These words from the Psalm have been fulfilled!

"But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, 'I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!'
"Jesus said to him, '[It is as] you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.'" Matthew 26:63-64

He has risen and sits at the right hand of the Father. He now lives to make intercession for me and all who come to God through Him. (See Hebrews 7:25) These verses also helped me to understand how this world could be so unjust and hard - because justice has not yet come upon the earth, though it is coming. The Son even now sits and waits till the time when His enemies will be made His footstool.

On Trials, Challenges

Faith doesn't believe that God will spare us from all trouble and pain, but it does believe that nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ! (See Romans 8:38-39)

While the enemy tries to use trial to crush our faith, God uses it in order to strengthen our faith. God desires that we would be fruitful - and fruitful plants need watering, pruning, and other types of care.

Christians live by faith when they live in response to God's word.

While people have prayed throughout the centuries to God, it was only through the death and resurrection of Christ that we could approach God's immediate presence in spirit. Even the High Priest of Israel could only enter the Most Holy Place once a year and he was not welcome to sit and stay for a long period of time. That's because the problem of sin had not yet been dealt with once and for all. But now that it has been, we are welcome to worship God in spirit and truth and to approach His throne with boldness in faith. (See Hebrews 4:16)
