Spring forth

Wood. Snow white blossoms as wings lift from dark wooden branches.
Stone. Citrine scepters boldly rise from a dull stone matrix.
Fire. Hot flaming tongues of fire leap from grey ash.
Water. Dark clouds soar to the peak of the heavens from a still blue sky.

Nature shows us that awesome beauty can spring up from dullness.

Notice that God doesn't kill the bare wood trees to prepare the way for the blossoms - He causes the blossoms to come from the dry, hard wood. He creates the new from the old.

"On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no wine.' ...Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, 'Fill the waterpots with water.' And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, 'Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.' And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, 'Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!'" -John 2:1-10

How merciful is YHWH! He is patient with us and gentle with us day by day. He carefully shapes us, raising us from our past dullness to become beautiful in His sight. As life and beauty spring up in all creation, so we too are given life and refined into loveliness. I pray that God will cleanse me and purify my heart and my soul so I might be made beautiful in His sight!

"Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you." -Isaiah 60:1
