Lamentations 3:33
"For He does not afflict willingly, Nor grieve the children of men."
In response to this verse, I was thinking about what God has done to demonstrate His willingness to show mercy.
He gave priests to atone for the unholiness of the people in the days before the cross.
"and the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt." (Leviticus 6:7)
Judges were also given to rescue and lead the people in the right way.
"And when the LORD raised up judges for them, the LORD was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them." (Judges 2:18)
Finally, He gave the Savior He had promised to Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:15), to Abraham (Genesis 12:3), to David (Psalm 110), to Isaiah (Isaiah 53), and to Daniel (Daniel 9:24). The Messiah is a High Priest forever who sacrificed once for all (Hebrews 7:24-27).
