I like New York.
Although I miss my family like crazy - I think I have found my city. The place I want to be.
It's been insane these past few months, but lovely.
I loved spending some alone time and working on myself the first couple of months... but getting out there, meeting new people, having old friends visit has been awesome.
In past couple of weeks:
- I wore a homeless man's fur coat at 3 in the morning while he quoted bible for two hours
- Got mugged
- Sold third sculpture I ever made
- Stained my white kitchen counter brown while trying to dye a friend's hair at 5am (and drunk)
- Labeled too innocent and turned away from a swingers club
- Had a "psychic" come up to me in the street telling me I need to ask my parents about a tragedy that I experienced as a child
- Danced for 8 hours at a salsa lounge
- Was on the news
- Started going to synagogue (and French Catholic church)
- Applied and waiting to hear from schools
- Got into an argument with a man after watching him beat up his wife
- Bought a giant strawberry cookie jar (my first antique store purchase)
- Designed the window display of a clothing store in Chelsea
- Signed up to be a mentor for Big Brother Big Sister (will be meeting my Lil Sister in two weeks)
It's strange though... how a city that seems so real and raw... can be so pretentious and segregated.
But, I like it here.
I think I will stay and call it my home.
