They should seek counselling for their urges to kill
I've been rereading Detective Conan. It's friggin' long, which I am surprisingly okay with given my habit of not committing to almost anything I read or watch. (Sorry, Ravages of Time, I promise to get back to you. Eventually. It doesn't help that [spoiler] is [spoiler], though, especially since I [spoiler]. But I suppose it's my fault for reading spoilers.)
Now, about the overarching plot. Does anyone know what's going on, in general, and/or with the most recent developments? Which, if any, of the theories are right/close to being right/in the right ballpark?
Is Akai dead? Is he alive but in disguise? As Okiya Subaru, the grad student staying in the Kudo residence? Is that why Conan let him live there, and be anywhere near Haibara and himself? This is a popular theory, which is why I'm hesitant about believing it. I mean, when the Showdown-with-Vermouth deal was going down, were the 'Vermouth was disguised as Dr. Araide' and 'Jodie, James, and Akai are FBI' theories the most valid? As much as I don't want this to be the case, there is a good chance that 'Okiya is Akai' is a double bluff.
So is he disguised as, uh, himself with a scar on his face? (The guy is creatively nicknamed "Scar Akai.") Probably not. This is Jodie's leading theory, and she's been woefully in the dark about most of Akai's gambits, damn him. Conan didn't seem to buy it.
Who is Sera Masumi? Is she Akai's sister, as many have theorized? Is she Akai himself, as some people have (jokingly) suggested? I kind of really want the second theory to be true.
Who is Anokata/That Person? For narrative reasons, he's probably already been introduced as another character. And since Vermouth's age is in question, his apparent age is as well. Fans are stumped about his identity, and for good reason. There aren't nearly enough clues to go on.
After I'm through, maybe I'll read Monster or Pluto again. Instead of, you know, following up on Billy Bat. Or Ravages of Time. (Again, very sorry. Perhaps if you [spoiler] as a [spoiler]?)
