yeaaah... so, i love delirious?! especially their eighth studio album - the mission bell. more specifically, there's five tracks that really do stand out to me on this disc. the first is (in no particular order) now is the time.
now is the time for us to shine,
shine with the face of christ divine
...a city shining on a hill,
tell this world you're shining still,
tell this world you always will
these lyrics really do stand out to me. now is definately the time for us to shine. in this broken world of wars, terrorism and ungodliness, the world needs His shining light. the principle way that this light will emit is through our shining. we need to be that city shining on a hill - for our family, our friends and our communities. they need to know that we have shined, we are shining and that we will continue to shine; to shine for Him. it's principally the young generation that will do this, and that brings me on to the next track:
breathe life into these lungs of mine,
so i can scream and shout of your love divine.
here i am, send me. here i am, send me.
there’s nothing in my hands,
but here i am, send me.
I’m frightened what you’ll find,
when you open up my heart, i’m walking in the light,
'cause it’s light that changes the atmosphere,
so touch these lips that criticise,
and put a song in my mouth that opens our eyes.
i think that this sums us up so well as christians. we're desperate for God to use us, and rightly so, but we also recognise that we're flawed human beings. all too often, people see christians as having perfect lives, with no problems of their own, and it needs to be recognised that this simply isn't the case. once people realise this, it will be so much easier for God to send us into the world. this doesn't mean that we have to sit around and wait, however - God has equipped us with His Holy Spirit to help us to do the things that we cannot do on our own (i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me - philippians 4:13).
hmmm, i shall update later with further thoughts - if anyone's interested.
