Ringleader of the Tormented

I walk into Borders to pick up Susan yesterday. While waiting I walk to the music section to see if they have the new Bob Mould album, "Body of Song". Susan gets a discount at Borders so it is always fun to look. Next to where Bob Mould should be is the Morrissey section. You see Mould and Morrissey are close in the alpabetical ordering system used at Borders. I flop through the Morrissey section and see a cover that I have not seen before. It is title "Ringleader of the Tormented". It was a new release shelved just that day.

Morrissey is one of my favorite artists. I have every solo work ever produced this includes compilations, singles, full albums, imports, the "Under the Influence" album he did, interview albums, etc. However I haven't been keeping up with any news. I had no idea an album was coming out. It is a little bit strange that I just happened to go into the music section and look at Morrissey the day of his new release. Maybe there is something to destiny.

As far as the album goes, it is good. Since purchase I have read reviews stating that it is his best album yet. I don't know if I would go that far but I still need a little more time with it to judge. What I do know is that it feels more musical than his previous albums. There are strings, and child choir, and just a generally more mature sound. It also isn't twelve songs of depression. There are some happy songs which is something different for Morrissey.

This is a must for any Morrissey fan. If you were a Morrissey fan you didn't need me to tell you that.
