When I became a Dad, I wondered if my views would change on certain things, like all my thoughts and beliefs would suddenly head Eastwards (or right-wing.) One of those topics I feared for was definitely drugs and their legalisation herein

I have probably said this before but I think some municipalities in NJ will go bankrupt if recreational drug use is legalized. They make so much on hassling the same people for dime bag busts. Meanwhile NYPD were just told to stop arresting people for smoking pot.

If instead of hassling small time dealers for petty cash, New Jersey made the transaction themselves and kept the profits, while freeing up NJ Police to tackle more serious crimes, it would be better for everyone. Same with prostitution, legalize brothels, make some money and put pimps out of business, I realise that it is a really hard sell to conservatives though.

I don't blame NYPD for that standpoint. It fills up the cells for no good reason.

It's not the best thing ever, but as you say you do enjoy seeing shows that include drug use, there is PLENTY of that here!

Completely agree, addicts ages also get older, not younger too. You take off the attractive marker of it being illegal and 'dangerous' to young people, who then get addicted.

And that's why they need to ask the advice of addicts (or at least people who have tried drugs) when formulating drug policy!
