The Difference Between Full Time And Part Time Exposed..!

On the season goes and (by this point), still no wins. The full time professionals from Toulouse popped over from France, I doubt that Swinton will be facing them next season...

The Gallic flair of the Championship’s top point scorers exploded into life close to half time in this previously close encounter; close before the French side scored fifty four unanswered points.

It seems nigh on unbelievable to state that Swinton were still very much in the game after twenty two minutes, so much so that they opted to kick a penalty to take an 8-6 lead.
A glut of long range tries close to the interval knocked the stuffing out of the Lions and Toulouse morphed into the dangerous attacking beast that they are known to be, with Jonathan Ford and Mark Kheirallah instrumental.

However, in the early stages, Swinton impressed their crowd, swelled by the decision to let anyone try Rugby League in South Manchester for free but a loose Swinton pass was reeled in by Paul Marcon who released Kheirallah. He was eventually grounded near halfway but Toulouse carried on and Ford bounded over on the last tackle, with Kheirallah goaling.

Swinton soon matched them with a converted try of their own, a fine flat pass from Jack Hansen sending Will Hope through, Chris Hankinson adding the goal points.

The Lions twice forced Olympique to drop out but the Frenchmen repelled them, with the Lions opting to take the penalty points on offer after an offside decision.

The second interception gifted by the Lions proved just as costly as the first, Stanislas Robin gobbling up Brad Billsborough’s pass and sprinting eighty metres for the corner with Kheirallah calmly stretching the lead with a belting conversion.

The Lions’ first penalty conceded of the half, for a high tackle on Tyla Hepi, was brutally exploited. Two tackles later, Kheirallah was skipping over for another four pointer, which he failed to convert.

Still, there was time for both teams to have opportunities, Ford releasing Bastien Ader on a great angle and via Kheirallah, Anthony Marion was under the sticks.

Meanwhile, Swinton’s winger Ilias Bergal dropped Billsborough’s fine kick to the corner and would have surely scored, as he didn’t, Toulouse went in fourteen points up.

For the new visitors to Heywood Road, few would have failed to have been impressed by Toulouse’s second half display; as they cut loose with flair and vision and rapidly racked up the points. Strong drives from Hepi stood out in the build-up but Marion released big prop Bastien Canet through the middle and he fed Robin for his second score.

Ford’s next intervention was pulling the strings as Ader sent in his wingman Maurel out wide before Charles Bouzinac scrapped his way over from dummy half, with Kheirallah adding a goal to the latter.

Canet looked certain to put his name on the scoresheet after handing off a Swinton defender but a trio of Lions came from nowhere to turn him onto his back. Despite that effort, Toulouse were over on the next tackle, as the Lions’ vulnerability from dummy half was made apparent, Mourad Kriouache the beneficiary.

The last ten minutes saw the visitors exuberantly throwing the ball around with nothing to lose, Kriouache throwing an outrageous dummy to race through before supplying a pass to the supporting Ford.

Kriouache was involved again in the next try, another marauding run from Canet was backed up, with the number fourteen lofting a pass to send in Marion.

Finally, Ader exploited tiring defence out wide, scorching down the left touchline before spotting Robin on his inside, Kheirallah kicking spotlessly with three out of three late on.
