When The Violence Happened, They Used It As An Excuse For More Violence..!

Once again, life has been ridiculously busy, I'm up early today as my body decided that I only need 7 hours' sleep, while thelma_viaduct gets a lie in, after the combination of beer and a cold in me kept her awake last night!

Yesterday was lovely, a whole day pretty much to ourselves, Toni gave away an astonishing amount of old clothes to charity, her parents came round briefly but we had time together, got some food in and watched films, yay.

Apart from this, it's been an odd few weeks, by coincidence, we were at a Garbage gig in Manchester when Paris got attacked by a terrorist cell. It's just a horrible, unimaginable event to go out to see a band or two and end up being shot dead by people starting a fight that we're not involved in, as far as I'm concerned.

The reaction amongst people I know has been largely positive (i.e. non-racist!), some pointed out that in Nigeria roughly around the same time, Boko Harum massacred 2,000 people, again in the name of religion. There was very little in the way of hatred against all Muslims, which I feared. Although one person I (vaguely) know did post what was clearly a video designed to promote bloodshed, although once I pointed out that it featured footage from known holocaust-denier and disgraced former leader of the BNP, Nick Griffin, it promptly died in the water.

The politicians' reaction has been less encouraging, despite it being the 'Age of Austerity', our Prime Minister seems keen to waste billions making more Middle Eastern enemies by bombing Syria, when it is a terrorist group, not a country, attacking us.

They do not appear to be thinking what causes people to be extremist, maybe things like prolonged bombing campaigns? Which will no doubt kill many innocent people and hence fanning the flames for more to decide 'The West' is the enemy. It's just moronic.

Garbage by the way, were superb, playing their whole first album in full and being enormous fun. By the end of the evening, it didn't seem to matter, in the grand scheme of things.

The following day, we went out on slender83 's birthday all dayer, it was a slightly sombre mood at first but you need to carry on, or the terrorists do win, I suppose.

It was: http://www.realaletrail.net/ the vague idea of one of these is to go to every pub and have a pint, instead we stayed in Batley and Dewsbury for hours as they were great before going on to Huddersfield and Slaithwaite and dropping into Stalybridge, where pretty much everyone was wasted!

Batley was also fun as I tried to introduce Toni and Lisa to Bitter but unbeknownst to me, I chose a bloody awful beer to try, ah well. Christian was on good form, talking about anal sex openly on the train after just one can! England's Rugby League team also showed their Union counterparts how to defeat their New Zealand World Champion rivals in a game!

We did go into Town afterwards and enjoyed 'Britpop Curious' (which was a Garbage special, due to the gig the night before), from what I can remember and Sunday being a write off, it was a good night.

The weekend before we had a relatively quiet one, saving money for house improvements and watching films, the pick of which (in my eyes) was 'A Field in England' -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2375574/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 - written and starring Reece Shearsmith, it's very, very dark, set in the 17th Century and filmed in black and white. So,
aphroditemf, will probably love it!

We also saw Sonic Boom Six at Satan's Hollow, all four punk bands had leading lady singers (with openers Poly-Esters being particularly ace), it was also great to hang out with Neil and skank like idiots once more!

Also, this was the week that Toni caught one of our neighbours masturbating..!

Oh and bye bye, harukokazuki, another LJ escapee!

neighbours wanking incidents!, lj sudden departure disease!, christian!, ben, gone drinkin', toni, lisa, rugby league, sonic boom six, rock, garbage
