Dragon*Con Is Less Than A Month Away!

YEAH!!!! It's that magical time of the year where adults can act like kids, kids can try to act like adults, and just a great long weekend to get away from this crazy thing called life.

This year, I'm trying something different though. Usually I go and listen to panel discussions, see some performances (Atlanta Radio Theatre Company) is amazing, and do a lot of people watching. I've met a lot of interesting people there, and it's nice to feel accepted in a large crowd of folks doing the same things. However, I've never gone in costume.

Yep, that's right. This guy with a minor in theatre has never gone to the convention in any kind of costume. This year will be different.

I've been told that I kinda look like Hagrid. OK, I'll accept that. But just anyone can dress up as Hagrid. I have to be different. I'm going as Hagrid on Vacation! After all, Hogwarts is out for the summer and the powers-that-be suggested he take some time off. So, it's off to the New World for fun and adventures!

After reading some old books, and seeing some really bad movies, he feels he must dress the part. So, he goes out and finds a Hawaiian shirt. EVERYBODY must wear those on vacation, right?

Given his background, he would want to see some of the magic in America, so the first place he would stop would be someplace known as the Magic Kingdom. Big disappointment. The Haunted Castle didn't even have real ghosts. Just cheap parlor tricks and mirrors. He did however pick up some strange headgear that everyone was wearing. Might as well wear it himself to blend in.

The next stop will be just a bit north, to a Convention of Dragons. He likes dragons. Dragons like him. This should be fun...

So far I've gotten the shirt (Thanks David and Lani! It's PERFECT!). I've got my pink umbrella. Mouse ears are on order. Longer hair wig is on order. Baby shoulder dragon is on order. Anyone have any other thoughts?
