House work is going ahead. Back and side by the driveway is ready for the last layer, and back on the other side is started. The front of the house is going to be different all together so we will get the siding and trim up on all the rest first. Found out there wasn't enough cavity for the blown in insulation because in some parts there was no cavity at all. The exterior siding that was visible was the structure. The drywall was just hung on the inner surface. This is how it was in the part that used to be the garage. On the other side of the house there are 2x "studs" running horizontally that the drywall is hung off of, which explains why the studfinder was giving such screwy readings when I was trying to put up shelving.
So the procedure has been to remove the outer layer of the overlapped cedar 2x8s and putting in studs on 24" centers to make room for rolled batt insulation, then a layer of sheeting, a layer of foil wrapped foam, and finally a layer of pre-primed OSB siding that looks like vertical carsiding. This extends the walls out to the edge of the current window trim so they will be re-trimmed as well. I have some progress pictures but nowhere that is quickly linkable at the moment.
I will be taking the removed cedar boards and trimming them down and stripping (planer) the paint off of them to make things. Thinking mainly camp furniture, should have 50+ 6 foot lengths, and another 50+ 3.5 foot lengths of slightly undersized 2x4s
