Productive evenings this week. Monday I cut and shaped a shield order and cut vinyl for 2 plaques. Tuesday after dinner with
alyska I powdered the 2 plaques and did some quickbooks work. Wednesday was practice, where I was able to get the handle and hole layout for the shield. Last night was dinner on my own and then an evening at the shop.
I drilled the holes and made the backing plates for the shield handle and strapping. Then I moved on to cleaning the shop, sweep, vac, re-arrange, didn't throw out enough things. I then took a bit of time to hammer at a project for me. My new helm kit has been sitting and taunting me now for about a month. The new gauntlets have been too, but the helm was pre-started (some edge cleaning and pre-shaping that I ordered) so I poked at that first. It still needs a lot of work, but it makes me happy to have something other than a box of parts at the moment.

Helm,
Front Fit,
Back. A lot more fit and finish shaping to do before it looks something like
this. Of course, before I rivet it all together after it is all fit together with the screws, I will be doing some sandblasting and powder coating of the parts. Most likely some knotwork and some multi color and texture options. The rivets I have for the assembly are brass as well. I may also be doing something different for the front grill design. It makes me happy to at least have it not just sitting as the pile of parts that came in the mail. My current helm and full gauntlets are still functional so that eases the pressure on getting these completed, I can still practice and participate as I am now, it is just my desire for the new ones that is driving me on.
Tonight the plan is to powder the shield so it can be edged and assembled tomorrow and delivered on Sunday. Tomorrow the plan is to start-to-finish frame
alyska 's LEGO sundial mosaic. With any time left over there are several things that will get worked on as well. Sunday the plan is to work on the custom orders from IML and then break for some socialization, and then back to either do some web work or some leather work for
Alt.Kilt. Evenings next week are more of the same, trying to mark the things off the lists. There is an event up in Eau Claire on the weekend, so it is working as much as possible before then. I have a few things I want to make for demos for the event at the end of the month that I hope to have some time to do feasibility on instead of just think and sketch.
As always, not enough hours in the day.
