your arms are my castle

this morning i had to get up rather early. i took the GRE. yikes! well, not exactly :) see, it is a computer-based test now (so no test administrator, no "stop! you cannot move on until the instructor tells you to do so", no more writing the essay in cursive, ...) so i got to type everything, click boxes, and get my scores immediately after finishing the test. i got a 740 quantitative, 450 verbal. the verbal sucks only because i'm not very good at opposites, and i'm a VERY slow reader.

but hey, i'm wicked happy about it. and seriously, 740 math? i thought i was kinda dumb :)

after the GRE i saw nadine for like 5 seconds, and then took chelsea's car (thanks) and went to see superman returns with mike. it was a very good movie... sans the fact that superman apparently fathered a child with lois before he went into outer space to find krypton. i guess i might have been alright with it but there's this one part where lois is about to be killed by one of lex luthor's goons while they're all on this boat and the kid, jamie i think, shoves a piano across the room...killing the guy. no! superman cannot have fathered a half-super child with lois. i think it's impossible! which i hated. if you don't want the lame surprise ruined for you, don't click the link. when you see the movie you can ask me about it. otherwise, click the link and we can discuss it further at a later date. and finally, if you've seen the movie, click the link and let me know what you think.

i'm only this technical because there are some people who would hate me forever if i spoiled a part of the new superman movie for them.

i have a problem with the way i perceive movies right now. ok, so everyone knows that i'm pretty much impressed or excited about some of the littlest stuff. when people end up together in movies, even though it was obvious the whole time that it was going to happen, i still get way excited. when the main characters' team wins the championship game that no one thought they would win i get way excited. but when something happens, like the thing i mentioned earlier, i just snuff at it and think it's dumb. in batman begins i thought it was way way way corny and lame when batman says that quote to joey potter about how it's what i do that defines me that she had said to bruce wayne, thus revealing to her his secret identity, i lost my excitement about the movie. in star wars episode iii: revenge of the sith when yoda says to that one wookie, "thank you, chewbacca." i rolled my eyes with annoyance, that was actually fueled by the fact that it was so painfully obvious that it was chewbacca that i felt offended that george lucas thought i would need chewie's name said allowed (dramatic pause included) in order to realize that the wookie that has the silver thing that chewbacca is always wearing in the three good star wars movies was actually chewbacca. i'm not stupid, and let's face it, neither are most star wars fans. they aren't called nerds because they're unintelligent. or like in the new version of king kong when adrian brody is spelling out "skull island" for like 25 minutes or when they develop the character of jimmy for no reason i get so disinterested in movies. that's why i absolutely LOVED the ending of the movie the break-up. it was completely perfect. real, not stupid, it didn't make me feel stupid. it was just plain good. and remember, i love teen movies. like i said in the beginning, it doesn't take much to impress me or excite me. i guess what i'm saying is that when i expect to see something that's defined as "awesome" by society, or standards other than my own (so basically not starring a popstar, no singing, not animated...that sort of thing) i have way higher expectations...as a result, corniness is greatly unappreciated.

...and superheroes are not allowed to tell people of their secret identities. that ruins everything...

...and superman is a great superhero. he is more powerful than any other superhero, and that makes him so interesting. he has so much more power than all the others so he has so much more responsibility than all the others. and he doesn't have some easy, not-super life to fall back on. his sense of duty is too strong. he beats himself up about stuff. kryptonite beats him up a little, too.

i'm busy really early tomorrow, so now i'm going to bed.

go england, brazil, and germany!
