my computer came today! and by came, i mean that i went to the UPS dispatcher 2 miles down the road to pick it up because they would only deliver it during large chunks of time when i was at work (didn't feel like waiting or taking off of work to get it). so after a lot of chasing and such, i picked up my 42 pounds of computer, monitor, peripherals, and packaging and drove home to assemble my computer. i started putting things together at 7:20 (the redwings/stars game had just started). i finally got everything clipped together by 10:30ish. i still need to hook up power and connect shit to the motherboard, but in my defense, it was my first time homebuilding. hopefully all of the parts work.
here are some of my quotes during the night (mostly said to my cat and myself):
"Hunny! We got stuff! And when I say "We got stuff," I mean you got some feathers on a stick while I got a kick-ass computer!"
"Hunny! Get out of damn picture!"
"My computer came with food that I'm not suppossed to eat!" (a large packet of silica gel had just fallen out of the inside of the case)
"WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GODDAMN SCREWS!?" (there are many left over)
"HELP!" (said several times during the night)
"Wait. Electronics. Better get nekkid." (practice safe hex. hack nekkid)
"WTF!?" (again said several times)
"Hunny, you're a Pikachu in a world of things that don't react well to Pikachus."
"I was suppossed to put that in first? Yeah, I think I was." (shortly after installing the motherboard for the second time)
"DAMN THAT'S BIG!" (when i pulled out the first of two identical monitors)
"It works!?" (when i plugged my sweet keyboard into my laptop and all of the media buttons and lights worked right away)
The entire process made a grand mess of my apartment, and I'm kinda afraid to leave Hunny alone in it while I go to work tomorrow. But, I don't think that there's anything left out that can cause damage to her or the computer. I really hope that the damn thing works and that I did everything right. Tomorrow will be a fun day (once work gets done).
But I do love this keyboard!
